Greetings from Hosts

  • Yashiro Eita

    Chairman.Nippon Charity Kyokai

  • This year's Autumn, which is known for the season for enjoying art, was a little shorter due to global warming. However, I would like to express my sincere respect for all the efforts and devotions that each artist had.

2024 ParaArt Tokyo International Exhibition was also exhibited by many artists, and in each work you can feel the artist’s sweat and the spirit of challenge. Every year, I am impressed by the passion that everyone exhibits.

I myself sometimes take up a paintbrush and trying landscape painting, but when I compare my work with everyone's, I always feel embarrassed and regretful.
It is said that "practice makes perfect," and I feel that from every one of the works. I sometimes look back the paintings and calligraphy that exhibited from the previous year, and I can clearly see the effort and improvement in this year’s works. And it is also a heartwarming moment to listen to the selection committee members' comments during the judging process and find out what kind of works were coming this year.

The ParaArt Tokyo International Exhibition has a long history, with a record of many participants from overseas. So I feel that art truly goes across the borders and that art is a guidepost to peace and humanity. Unfortunately, there are tragic conflicts in the Middle East and the seemingly endless war between Russia and Ukraine. If we calmly face the canvas and pick up our paintbrushes, we will not feel the urge to fight with weapons and ammunition. The world will move forward toward peace. With this prayer in mind, I would like to visit this year’s ParaArt Tokyo International Exhibition.

    Thank you everyone!
I hope that this year's exhibition will be a wonderful one as well.

  • Koike Yuriko

    Governor of Tokyo

  • It is our great pleasure to co-host the 11th International Exchange Exhibition of 2024 ParaArt TOKYO.

Art is inclusive, transcending national borders and ethnicities. It directly inspires and resonates in the hearts of people. I would like to express my deep respect to everyone at Nippon Charity Kyokai, including Chairman Yashiro Eita, for their dedication to creating valuable opportunities for people with disabilities to develop and demonstrate their fine talent through the arts.

I understand that the works featured in the exhibition will again be made available for viewing online via the ParaArt TOKYO 2024 virtual gallery. This online exhibition will surely make it possible for many people to discover amazing works of art. Through the virtual gallery, it is our hope that everyone, especially those who are unable to visit the venue in person, will be able to fully enjoy the many appealing works of art from around the world.

The sight of Japanese athletes bravely competing at this summer’s Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games gave courage and inspiration to many citizens of Tokyo and Japan. Next year, we will welcome the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics to our city.

Tokyo is working to advance the implementation of “universal communications” technologies that aim to transcend hearing impairments and language barriers to facilitate communication through digital technologies, among other efforts. Let us steadily promote the realization of an inclusive society where everyone can embrace their individuality and lead vibrant lives. Your continued understanding and cooperation will be greatly appreciated.

In closing, I sincerely hope that the success of this exhibition will lead to a deeper understanding of participation by people with disabilities in cultural and artistic activities, and help advance diversity in social participation.

  • Takazawa Miyuki

    Mayor of Toshima City

  • We are pleased to announce the opening of the 11th International Exchange Exhibition of “2024 Para Art TOKYO”! We are grateful for the many attractive works from Japan and many other countries that were exhibited.

This international exchange exhibition is open to participants regardless of nationality or disability, and is an opportunity for people with disabilities to participate in society, as well as an initiative to further deepen understanding of people with disabilities and contribute to the realization of a diverse society.

Toshima City has been promoting cultural and artistic programs that include people with disabilities, with the aim of realizing a society in which no one is left behind. We are very happy to have the Toshima Center Square on the first floor of the City Office as the venue for this year's International Exchange Exhibition. We will continue to work with you to create a city where everyone can be unique, thrive, and contribute.

We sincerely hope that through this international exchange exhibition, many people will be able to experience the appeal of art by people with disabilities, and that the opportunities for people with disabilities to play an active role will continue to expand and become more familiar.

Finally, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Nippon Charity Kyokai and all those involved for their efforts in organizing this event, and extend our congratulations.
